Jean-Michel Basquiat (Screenprint of The OFFS Album)



The March/April 2008 edition of NY Arts Magazine devoted a feature article to the importance of this work by Basquiat and its history. This article was translated into Chinese and published in 2008 in Art Today, the publication of the Beijing Contemporary Art Museum. A preliminary study/sketch of this Basquiat image sold at Hammer Price with Buyer’s Premium: $302,500 in November of 2011. This "Lost Basquiat” has been in a number of prestigious museums across the world, including “Vinyl – Records and Covers by Artists” in Bremen, Germany 2005, Barcelona, Spain in 2006 and Porto, Portugal in 2007.

Screenprint. The OFFS 25th Album Cover

This is a two-color hand pulled SCREENPRINT from a Limited Edition portfolio of 85 on Saunder's Waterford Watercolor Paper (260 lb. hot pressed, 100% long fibre cotton, watermarked with four deckled edges). It is printed with Jacquard Professional Archival Ink. The image is 20 x 20 inches on the paper, which is 24 x 24 inches, leaving ample room to be framed. Jean-Michel Basquiat created the original cover art for the album "The Offs First Record" on record label, CD Presents Ltd. The album was released in December 1984. A 25th Anniversary re-issue in black, white and clear and red vinyl was scheduled for release in 2009. See this article from Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine.
